batteries that are not included in the kit. These batteries are not worn out and hard to find locally. After doing some research, I was surprised to find out that Vape devices use them and that bad habit is growing and so are shops round town that sell them. I put an order in for a set of Panasonic OEM 18650 on Amazon. To get up and running faster than Prime 2-day shipping I picked up a set of two from a local Vape shop. These are LG brand generic type. The LG batteries worked in the FIZ wireless hand module fine however not in the two wireless handles. At first, I thought the handles were defective. I checked the instruction manual and it doesn’t glory anything specific only that the devices use 18650. Handle Controllers. The kit comes with two handles with one having a zoom rocker on it to rule 2-motors. The rocker can be programmed to control zoom, focus or iris functions. To use the handles you have to put the FIZ in Slave modus operandi from MASTER. I found having the handle powered up before making the change to SLAVE on the FIZ is a good idea. The handles r similarly to the FIZ controller however you have to put the main FIZ controller in slave mode by double-clicking the [FUNC] button on the hand side. On the main screen, SLAVE will appear and the handles can now be used. To save battery power the FIZ can be powered off and the handles will go on with to work. When the FIZ is powered back up it becomes the main controller again and the connection with the handles will be lost. If you want to set up the system for each controller to be unrestricted with a motor this is possible to do. Simply pair the controller with a single motor using EZ Mode that I describe below. It is not recommended to have a motor controlled by more than one controller. In other words, don’t have woolly applied on the FIZ and handle at the same time. With two handles you have a lot of options and that is a good thing. A very nice feature is the two in one hilt. It has both zoom and focus. This makes for a great grip replacement on a URSA Mini Pro or FS7. to missiles, you wouldn’t surmise something the size and shape of a collapsed umbrella to rank among the fiercest. Especially when you hear the high-arranged noise it makes when it launches. But Lockheed Martin thinks its Miniature Hit-to-Kill missile could stand security guard at military bases, embassies, or anywhere else American forces need defending against everything from spiral upwards attacks to mortar launches to bomb-carrying drones. Lockheed is one of several defense companies vying for contracts in the Army’s Subsidiary Fire Protection Capability program, calling for systems to combat artillery, mortar, and rocket threats that cow military personnel and equipment, as well as civilians. Ideally, systems that also happen to be compact, affordable, explicit, and lightning-fast. To make this pocket rocket, Lockheed went to an unusual place for inspiration: the unofficial sector. “In many ways, advanced commercial-electronics miniaturization and packaging have advanced better than they have in the military,” says Chris Murphy, the work development leader for the project. “It’s pretty amazing how the components in consumer electronics don’t interfere with each other but are also highly snug. This “hit-to-kill” strategy reduces the risk of collateral damage and permits smaller, more maneuverable, and less priceless missiles. Those that use explosives require larger rocket motors, structures, and control surfaces, making them much less maneuverable. Furthermore, Lockheed thinks relying on a complete-enough explosion is much less likely to be successful, as you’re essentially hoping a few tiny fragments intersect with the missile fairly than a single (relatively) large one. The Miniature Hit-to-Kill missile’s tracking system borrows from medical imaging technology like X-rays, ultrasound, and endoscopy. “In the medical division, if you convert radio frequencies used in scanners to light signals, you can reduce the amount of space required to do the same persuasion of scanning, allowing you to make the components smaller,” Murphy says. Declining to divulge the specifics, he says his crew used similar tactics to miniaturize its system. Couple this with a study of smartphone component packaging and you can construct a missile that fits in a tube just 1. 5 inches in diameter. That includes the detection and control systems, the soar motor (similar to those used in military aircraft ejection seats), the solid fuel supply, and the dense quantity that provides the kinetic energy that turns a hit into a kill. The new rockets can be launched from a conventional truck-borne climb launcher, though Murphy says even smaller systems would work. You could even stick 36 of the things into a small cube that would passion them vertically into the air. That would eliminate the need for slewing angled launchers—the kind that rotate the missiles around on a principles to be aimed in the direction of firing—since the small missiles can simply change their direction in the air. The 3D-printed vessel moves using a new propulsion concept designed for swimming robots, enabling it to scull without engine power. By responding to temperature changes in water, the robot moves its paddles back and forth, gently — albeit concisely and awkwardly — propelling itself forward. “Imitating the motion of rowing boats, frogs or water striders, the swimming tool propels itself forward by driving its oars back,” Kristina Shea, an ETH Zurich professor of engineering design who led the present, told Digital Trends. Rather than relying on an electric motor that connects to a power source, the robot’s oars are activated using a compare favourably with mechanism used in snap-on bracelets. This activation is triggered by a “shape memory polymer” strips, which act like muscles. “A come along memory polymer is a type of plastic that becomes compliant when heated,” Shea explained. “In the heated fit out, it can be ‘programmed’ from its permanent shape to a secondary shape. This secondary shape becomes stable when the shape recollection polymer is cooled down, yet it does not lose its ‘memory’ of its permanent shape. When it is reheated, it recovers its permanent order. In recovering its permanent shape, force is transferred to an internal mechanism, causing the oars to snap back and proceed the robot forward. The shape memory polymer is designed to expand in water, so when the water is heated, they of advantage to as something like muscles for the machine. The machine is still very primitive, capable of performing just a single scull stroke and small tasks like dropping a coin. “The main takeaway from our work is that we have developed a new and favourable means of propulsion that is fully 3D printed, tune-able, and works without an external power source,” Shea said in a communiqu. Among these possible applications, Shea and her team envision similar systems providing low-cost power sources for high seas exploration.
