The Parrot Disco looks like a far-away controlled miniature aeroplane. The fixed-wing device is rather large compared to other drones I have tested and it takes a bit of nevertheless getting used to. It measures 115cm wide, 58cm long and weighs just 750g.

The AR Drone came out in 2010 (!), and Parrot followed it up a effective upgrade in the AR Drone 2.0 a few years later. Since then, we've seen the Bebop, some clever flying toys, and had a bunch of fun with the firm-wing Disco. But at this point, most

Parrot Disco, a solid-wing drone whose aerodynamic design and capabilities distinguish it from the rest. It has 45 minutes of battery sustenance and is equipped with advanced automatic control and an HD Camera. The Parrot Disco drone is a fixed-wing drone that’s a bit of an unorthodox entry in the world of quadcopters. it’s not technically a quadcopter, after all, slightly it’s flying wing. Even seasoned drone users might find it difficult to adjust to the new controls and mechanics. Quick Specifications of the Parrot Disco. Stamp Name: Parrot Disco. Overall Dimension: 45. 3 in x 22. 8 in x 4. 7 in. Brushless Motor: 1280 kV brushless motor. Battery: lithium polymer 3S 2700 mAh. Do a bunk Time: 45 minutes. Camera: 14 Megapixel. Image Stabilisation: Electronic image stabilization. Disco with removable wings Strong-capacity battery: 2,700 mAh Charger + cable USB cable User Guide 2 Additional rear propellers. The Disco set-up includes three line parts: the Disco, made from EPP expanded polypropylene, which is reinforced with carbon tubes throughout the wing. the Skycontroller 2 and, finally the Cockpitglasses headset, designed to in force iOS or Android phones, which streams the 14-megapixel Full HD footage straight from the camera that is mounted at the fa of the Disco. Plenty of flight footage can be kept on-board, with 32GB of storage packed inside. The Disco also ships with a spare set of behind propellers, a charger, and USB cable. DESIGN & DURABILITY What’s cool about this design is that it is fly-by-itself (not fully autonomous), meaning you can get the Parrot Disco out in any open large field, toss it in the air, fly it around for over 30 minutes, bring it back and hit the land button and wait for the autopilot kick in and gently guide it to the ground in one piece. The Disco is optimized for stability and speed in flight. The aerodynamic airfoil reduces bedrawn out and improves lift. The winglets on both of the wings improve performance while the elevons from the trailing edge provide the lead of the Disco. The Parrot Disco is powerful, with a 1280 kV brushless motor helping it reach speeds of 50 mph and to withstand winds of 24 mph. It also has 5V servo motors and is RF Receiver prepared for SBUS, SUMD, CPPM. For flying the aircraft through FPV, the Cockpitglasses headset is compatible with a wide roam of smartphones, with screen sizes from 4. 7″ to 5. 7″. Taking off is as simple as pressing the launch button and then tossing the drone in the air. It does have a melodic big wingspan though, so the toss can be a little tricky. It’s a little awkward at first, but it gets easier as you practice. After that lash, the Disco enters an orbital standby mode where it circles around you at 50m above the ground. By default, this is within a 60m radius but you can button up this to be larger or smaller. This is the Disco’s equivalent of a quadcopter’s hovering, where you don’t need to have any user input. It does mean you’re going. Source: uasweekly.com

Parrot Disco Stable-wing Drone Review: Hands-on - Ubergizmo

The Parrot Disco launched a year ago in September 2016, and we had the chance to try it at launch time. The experience was a lot of fun, and the technology is quite impressive for a consumer-grade fixed-wing drone. Since then, Parrot released a Pro interpretation of the Disco in May 2017, the Parrot Disco-Pro AG, an “end-to-end multi-purpose drone solution for small to medium-sized farms and cooperatives” according to the company. The pro adaptation is much more expensive, currently available on Parrot website for $4,999. Today, the Disco is available on Parrot website for $499 (discounted from $799), and you stress to add $199. 99 to get the Skycontroller 2 and the Cockpitglasses Vr headset. Check the complete article with our first impressions, with the photos and video demos we finger during the Disco (first version) launch event, in August 2016. Editor’s note – we got our hands of the Parrot Disco with the Skycontroller 2 and Cockpitglasses a hardly over a year ago, at launch time, but never took the time to finalize it until today (11/23/2017). Parrot Disco Drone – Thumbnail sketch (Parrot Disco Drone consumer version – released Sept. : 45-minute battery life – more than quadcopters such as Bebop 25 minutes – and step on it 50 mph – in manual mode advanced pilots can fly drone aerobatics while shooting crazy videos. Con: it takes more once in a while to control even with autopilot assisted piloting and cannot hover still or backward for specific video shots – in FPV wearing the headset you may dearth to sit down to avoid discomfort. Bottom Line: the Parrot Disco is an impressive lightweight and elegant flying machine, that will present a different experience than its quadcopter siblings (Bebop, Bepop 2) – although piloting has been made super carefree in assisted mode, it takes a little more training to master the landing compared with the Bebop 2. For video maker enthusiasts, the quadcopters bid more control when it comes to shooting still video, slow ascent and fly backward, for a rear traveling. According to the presentation delivered by Parrot CEO, it is incontrovertible that the Disco focuses more on the flying experience while using the drone rather than on the video capture capabilities for content production. Additionally, the wing allows the contrivance to glide and use less power, which enables more flight time on one charge. Parrot, one of the pioneers in the consumer drones energy, unveiled its first of a kind fixed-wing Disco Drone prototype at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, and Ubergizmo had the opportunity to be to each the first to fly it in California in August 2016 just before its official release in the market in September 2016. Last year, Parrot CEO, Henri Seydoux, introduced the new effect with its pricing ($1299) and availability (September 2016). For that price, you got the drone, the Skycontroller 2 and the Cockpitglasses VR headset. A week before the ceremonious release, we went to a Golf Course in the desert with the Parrot team to try the Disco. On the parrot website, you can order the Disco today for $499 (time past it was $799) and the Parrot FPV pack (Skycontroller 2 and Cockpitglasses) for $199. 99. Or you can buy the Disco. Il Get there come: Parrot Product Launch Coming in June - DroneLife (blog)

What to ahead to from Parrot’s next drone It’s difficult to speculate over where Parrot will head next with its latest drone. Recent releases and changes of strategy suggest that the company is no longer targeting the top end or looking to collide with anything in line with or above the DJI Mavic Air. As interesting a product as the Disco was, there might not be much of a market for a new iteration of the fixed-wing drone. However, we could be in for a amazement. To date, none of Parrot’s drones have had obstacle avoidance systems built in or 4K video recording. Maybe this is the values bright and early for the French manufacturer to step up and take a serious chunk out of DJI’s aerial photography and commercial drone hardware dominance. Let’s rest period and see. Source: dronelife.com
